Fitness & FRIENDS

Dragon boating carries on a tradition that began in China over 2000 years ago and has evolved into the ultimate team sport as 20 people paddle in sync down the race course, working together as a team. The dragon boat sport gained popularity in many communities because it is  accessible to paddlers regardless of age or fitness level.

Come paddle with us! No experience is required to start! Between the gunnels of a dragon boat, find the shared challenge of competition, cultural experiences, and a sense of community.

Mark your calendars and get ready to paddle your way to an exciting day of teamwork, fun, and celebration at the AAPI Heritage & Dragon Boat Festival! Join us, and the City of Dallas, Office of Arts & Culture on May 19, 2024, at the historic Bath House on White Rock Lake for an unforgettable event filled with thrilling dragon boat races, cultural festivities, and community camaraderie. We are proud to be part of this inaugural festival and are honored to showcase the best of AAPI culture and dragon boating in our beloved city.

Established in 2011, Delite is Dallas' premier dragon boat club

At our core, we're a passionate and close-knit group of friends who found connection through our shared enthusiasm for dragon boat racing. We've grown from a group of college friends into a competitive team that practices rigorously, competes around the country, and embraces the thrill of the sport year-round.

As a team, we are more than athletes; we're individuals with diverse backgrounds, united by our love for the sport and a collective desire to contribute to our community's well-being.

Our mission is to offer education, training and competitive dragon boating programs to youth and adults of all experience levels. We strive to create an inclusive environment and a culture of camaraderie on and off the water.

If you have been around White Rock Lake on a Saturday morning, you may have seen a group of women, paddling in unison on a 40 foot long boat to the rhythmic beat of a drummer who is perched on the bow.  Meet Dallas United PINK — DFW’s first Breast Cancer Survivors’ Dragon Boat Team. United through a shared diagnosis, DUC Pink encourages and empower survivors to engage in a lifetime of fun, exercise, and camaraderie on the water. If you are a breast cancer survivor seeking an exceptional opportunity to join a community of women who understand the journey, value the benefits of exercise, bond over brunch, and love to compete — Dallas United PINK is for YOU!

In 1995, Dr. Don McKenzie, from Canada, challenged they myth, "Women treated for breast cancer should limit upper body activities." Instead, his research demonstrated that upper body activity, such as paddling, was effective in reducing post-operative complications, such as lymphedema. So, Dr McKenzie formed the first dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors.

The movement grew! Now there are over three hundred teams registered with the International Breast Cancer Paddling Commission. These teams come together at dragon boat festivals throughout the world (Pink raced in Milan, Italy!) to compete and find fellowship.

Join Us!

We practice Saturday mornings February through November. Our training includes land and water practices. Times vary as our training progresses, so be sure to check the DUC calendar.

Dallas United Crew PINK provides all of the equipment needed and a team jersey is included with your seasons registration.
